Adele Laurie Blue Adkins (; born 5 May 1988), known mononymously as Adele, is an English singer-songwriter. Regarded as a British icon, she is known for her mezzo-soprano vocals and sentimental songwriting. Her accolades include 16 Grammy Awards, 12 Brit Awards (including three for British Album of the Year), an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe Award.

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins (born 5 May 1988) is an English singer, songwriter, musician and multi-instrumentalist. In 2023, she appeared at number 22 on the Rolling Stone magazine's "200 best singers of all time" list.[3]

Early life

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born on 5 May 1988, at North Middlesex University Hospital in Tottenham, London. She is the daughter of a Welshman named Mark Evans and Penny Adkins. She has a half-brother called Cameron. She lived with her father and she started singing from the age of four.[4] She graduated from The BRIT School in Croydon in May 2006.

In July 2006, Adele published two songs in the fourth issue of online arts magazine PlatformsMagazine.com.[5] After graduation, Adele began to play small shows at venues all over Britain. She has also toured with best friend Jack Peñate, as well as Jamie T, Raul Midon, Devendra Banhart, Amos Lee and Keren Ann since summer 2006. Adele went on her first UK headlining tour in October 2007.
