Niciun alt designer nu a stârnit atâtea controverse şi nu a dat naştere atâtor mituri ca Gabrielle Chanel, femeia care a revoluţionat moda feminină la începutul secolului al XX-lea.

• 1883 -Se naste in Saumer, Franta • 1910 -Este cunoscuta sub pseudonimul "Coco";

isi deschide un magazin de palarii pe str. Cambon, Paris numit "Chanel Modes"

• 1913 -Isi deschide primul boutique de moda in Deauville • 1915 -Isi deschide Casa Couture in Biarritz

• 1916 -Introduce in lumea modei jerseul ( haina de tricot).

Primul design apare in Harper's Bazaar cu titlul " the charming chemise dress". • 1921-Lanseaza primul parfum Chanel, faimosul "Chanel No. 5", urmat de "No. 22" in 1922 • 1924 -Este infiintata compania Chanel Perfume

• 1926 -Introduce in moda faimoasa " little black dress"

• 1928 -Introduce costumul din stofa si cel din lana, mai ales pentru ea in Scotia.

• 1929 -Se infiinteaza un boutique de accesorii in interiorul Casei Couture

• 1930 -colaboreaza cu Samuel Goldwyn in ve
