Biography
Alan S. Abrahams is Associate Director of the Executive PhD Program, responsible for recruiting and external relations.
He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Information Technology, Pamplin College of Business, at Virginia Tech, and a member of the Affiliated Faculty at the Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Center for Injury Research and Policy.
Dr. Abrahams's primary research interest is in developing text analytic techniques for detecting product safety concerns. His research has analyzed consumer postings for multiple Fortune 50 and NYSE-listed retailers and manufacturers, and has addressed diverse industries including, amongst others, consumer products, home appliances, food, over-the-counter medicines, medical devices, and automotive.
Dr Abrahams is a Senior Editor of Decision Support Systems, and has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles in diverse journals, including Decision Support Systems, Production & Operations Management, Risk Analysis, Safety Science, and others.

Alan Abraham is Vice-President at ReGroup. Alan has over 25 years of management and operational experience in the waste and recycling industry and a background in long-distance and public warehousing. Establishing Green Waste Systems in 1989, Alan grew it into a full-service company with over 20 trucks operating in Halifax until its acquisition by Royal Environmental Group where he continues to lead the environmental services division. Alan is a proud Saint Mary’s University alumnus whose commitment to community service has involved him on a variety of boards and associations. Allen Abraham
Allen Abraham (1865 – 9 July 1922; born Subramaniar Ambalavanar) was a Ceylon Tamil academic and astronomer.[1]
Early life and family
Ambalavanar was born in 1865 in Karainagar on the island of Karaitivu in northern Ceylon.[3] He was the son of Kanthappar Subramaniar and Paravathy. Both of his parents died during the 1876 cholera epidemic after which he was brought up by his uncle Kanthappar Saravanamuttu. He had some basic education in his home village before being selected to attend the Aid Training School in Tellippalai in December 1881.[4] There he converted to Christianity and took on the name Allen Abraham. He graduated from the school in December 1883 after which he joined Jaffna College's five year Graduation Course of the Institution. He graduated in 1888 with a first class. Abraham passed the Senior Local in 1886 and the Jaffna St. Patrick's College, Jaffna in 1889.
