Bio: Artist -Teacher-Visionary

Sandra Bacon is a classically trained, versatile artist who resides in the Chicago area. Her artwork is informed by a thorough understanding of acrylics, combined with knowledge of a full range of other media She is associated with Golden Paints.

Sandie Bacon is a Chicago based visual artist who works primarily as a painter, but often ventures into mixed media and sculpture. She shows in galleries nationwide and is included in corporate collections, such as the William Blair Foundation and the Chicago Department of the Environment.  She even has a piece in Bill Clinton’s Harlem office. She paints murals in both public spaces (restaurants, grocery stores, designer showrooms, museums) and in private residences, as well as being a scenic charge artist for the Citadel Theater. She has also won numerous public art commissions, including recently at Artprize in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Chicago Sculpture International.

Trained as a specialist in acrylic, oil and watercolor paints, Sandie has been a Working Artist for Golden Artist Colors since 2007.

Sandy Bacon Memorial Scholarship

The Sandy Bacon Memorial Scholarship was established by Dr.Phil Bacon in memory of his beloved wife, Sandy. His wish is to provide support to a Music/Vocal student who has the potential to further his/her education with their financial assistance. Sandy was born July 31, 1943, in Charleston, SC and moved to Colorado with her parents when she was only 10 months old. She graduated from Loveland High School, Loveland, CO. She received her A.A. degree from Cottey College of Nevada, MO, B.S. and M. Ed degrees from Colorado State University, and did a year of advanced graduate study at Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff. She taught mathematics for the Mesa County Valley School District # 51 for thirty and one half years, retiring on January 26, 1996. Since that time, she was employed by H&R Block as an Office Leader and Tax Preparer.Active in the Grand Junction musical community, she was organist for nearly 17 years at the American Lutheran Church and substitute organist at the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
