Joan Illuzzi-Orbon is an American prosecutor. She has been an assistant district attorney for 27 years. Illuzzi-Orbon has prosecuted some high-profile cases over the years, though in terms of media attention, there’s been none bigger than her current assignment.
Illuzzi-Orbon graduated from St. John’s University School of Law in 1988. She is a prosecutor in the Harvey Weinstein rape and sex-abuse trial. Illuzzi-Orbon was named lead prosecutor in 2018 by the Manhattan district attorney in the criminal case against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. She secured a conviction for the 1979 murder of six-year-old Etan Patz nearly 40 years after he was kidnapped from a Soho bus stop in Manhattan.
