Another big name female competitor has pulled out of the 2013 CrossFit Season, with Azadeh Boroumand deciding to take the rest of the year off.
27-year-old Boroumand made a name for herself last year, winning the South Central Regionals in devastating fashion, before going on to finish 18th at the 2012 CrossFit Games.
This year, Boroumand finished the Open in 27th place in the South West, earning a spot at the 2013 Regionals.
However, she has now decided she will not be competing in the event, opting to take a break from the sport to get her mind fresh and recover from niggling injuries.
Boroumand broke the news on her Facebook page earlier today, posting:
“After a long period of uncertainty and lots of consideration I’ve decided to pull out of the 2013 CrossFit Games. The 2 years of taking no rest days that got me to the games and the 13 years prior to ceossfit (sic) as a competitive athlete has taken its tole on me physically, mentally, and emotionally.
