Another big name female competitor has pulled out of the 2013 CrossFit Season, with Azadeh Boroumand deciding to take the rest of the year off.

27-year-old Boroumand made a name for herself last year, winning the South Central Regionals in devastating fashion, before going on to finish 18th at the 2012 CrossFit Games.

This year, Boroumand finished the Open in 27th place in the South West, earning a spot at the 2013 Regionals.

However, she has now decided she will not be competing in the event, opting to take a break from the sport to get her mind fresh and recover from niggling injuries.

Boroumand broke the news on her Facebook page earlier today, posting:

“After a long period of uncertainty and lots of consideration I’ve decided to pull out of the 2013 CrossFit Games. The 2 years of taking no rest days that got me to the games and the 13 years prior to ceossfit (sic) as a competitive athlete has taken its tole on me physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The Games' Official website writes: "Azadeh Bouromand cannot be stopped ... On the women’s side, Boroumand was the standard bearer ... and became a record holder after Event 6. She was just one muscle-up shy of finishing the entire workout. If any of the region’s athletes deserved the title of superhero, it was Boroumand, as she was untouchable in this competition."
With her victory, Boroumand will be packing her bags in July for 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games in Carson, California.
Biography:
When she was three, Azadeh Boroumand’s family immigrated to Alberta, Canada. In this fight, Boroumand was instilled with a spirit of survival and perseverance that would one day emanate through her during every workout. “Growing up, our first language was Farsi, and my dad had to grind to get us through,” says Boroumand. “We grew up on literally nothing. On top of that, my mot
